The Universitas 21 Health Sciences Group presents the 2019 UN Sustainable Development Goals Awareness Week! Students from across the University of Melbourne’s MDHS disciplines have collaborated to bring you a week of esteemed speakers, along with some free goods, food and drinks! Come along to learn more about current global issues, understand the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, and how you can get involved with the 2020 UN SDG Awareness Week!

5.45-8pm, Gryphon Gallery, 1888 Building

Professor Cathy Humphreys, the Head of Social Work at the University of Melbourne and Co-Director of the Melbourne Alliance to End Violence Against Women and Their Children (MAEVe), speaks on Domestic and Gender-Based Violence.

Dr Timothy Read, a Politician from Australian Greens Victoria, speaks on Waste Management in Healthcare, Water Usage and the Carbon Footprint of Melbourne.

Professor Mike Salvaris, the Project Manager of The Australian National Development Index (ANDI), speaks on how our societal progress can be measured by indicators beyond Australia’s GDP.

Dr Graham Mackay, Professor and Honours Coordinator of the Department of Pharmacology, speaks on The Economic Impact of Medicine Choice, and how we can practice with consideration beyond the hospital and clinic walls.

Dr Kenneth Winkel, a leading Australian Toxinologist and former Director of the Australian Venom Research Unit (AVRU), speaks on One Health in an Indigenous Context.
