Take a tour, promote pollination, boost biodiversity, and compost your scraps at the first in-person System Garden event for 2021.

Sink your green thumbs into the earth and help us launch the brand new features of the System Garden including an insect hotel, a compost bin system, and an indigenous plant garden. Come along to:

  • Learn about the benefits of insect hotels to our campus biodiversity and pollination of plants
  • Be taken on an educational tour of the System Garden where you’ll see a beehive on campus, the award-winning Australian Rainforest Boardwalk and more
  • Learn how to correctly use the compost bins and save your food scraps from ending up in landfill
  • Contribute to the future of the garden by planting an indigenous plant in the new natives section.

All University of Melbourne staff and students are welcome to participate. We encourage you to register before the event and arrive on time to not miss out on any of the fun!

This event is part of Sustainability Week, hosted by the Sustainability Team, Campus Management, the Grounds Team, Campus Management, UMSU Environment and the Community Garden.
