Recycling continues at UniMelb

While some councils across Victoria have been forced to send kerbside recycling to landfill, the contents of recycling bins from the University of Melbourne are still being sent for recycling.

Recycling and landfill bin

Contents are currently sent to a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) to be sorted into different streams and sent to be recycled.

It is important to continue to dispose of waste around campuses correctly and know what goes in each bin. Unsure what goes in each bin? Visit our waste page to get it right.

Recycling correctly will help the university to continue to reduce waste to landfill to 20kg per person by 2020, a key target in the Sustainability Plan 2017–2020.
