Some campus retailers to remain open

Some University retailers on Parkville campus remain open amidst COVID-19 precautions with take-away service only.

In light of the emerging COVID-19 situation and continuing policy statements from the State and Federal Government, the University is adopting a series of changes to ensure the safety of the University Community.

Space management would like to advise that the following University cafe tenants at Parkville campus are continuing to operate with take-away service only (last updated Monday 6 April).

  • House of Cards, Engineering Lane, 8am–1.30pm
  • Barettos Cafe, Alan Gilbert Building
  • Dr Dax, Kenneth Myer Building
  • Bar Commercio, The Spot Building

These tenants are committed to remaining open for as long as possible and are reviewing their position daily in response to the evolving situation and government updates.

Other University food and beverage tenants have made an independent business decision to close for one month and the University has approved revised opening hours under their lease terms, with ongoing mutual review.

The Choose to Reuse Plate Program at Union House, Parkville, has been suspended until further notice. Café tenants have also been instructed not to accept the use of personal reusable cups or containers at this time.

If you are a staff member required to continue work on campus, please support these operators, and thank them for remaining open. Students are reminded not to attend campus until further notice.

We’ll provide further details on remote ordering and catering options in due course. Space Management acknowledges the exceptional service commitment of all food and beverage providers on campus during evolving conditions over the past two months.

The University will continue to follow expert health advice and will continue to make decisions about its activities which are in the best interests of the health, safety and wellbeing of the entire University community.
