Apply to be our next biodiversity intern

Are you passionate about fauna, fungi and data collection? The Sustainability Team is looking for a detail-driven and enthusiastic student for a semester two internship position.

The Sustainability Team is recruiting one student intern to complete a biodiversity baseline data project for all our campuses.

This is an opportunity for direct learning as part of the University's internship program. Applicants must be University of Melbourne students currently studying towards a postgraduate qualification and be enrolled in a University internship subject for semester two.

Fauna and Fungi Inventory Project

As an intern, you will be required to collect, collate and map fauna and fungi sightings from various databases. You will then produce a report with your findings and recommendations for enhancing the biodiversity of our campuses.

This project will be completed in 80–100 hours over the course of semester two, with your work  contributing to a complete data set for biodiversity across the University, as outlined in the Sustainability Plan 2017–2020.

If you have excellent written communication and organisational skills, an ability to work independently, and are driven to collect accurate information, this is the role for you!

The role must be completed as part of a University of Melbourne internship subject and is unpaid.

To apply, read the Position Description, and submit your resume and cover letter addressing the selection criteria to sustainable-campus@unimelb.edu.au with the subject ‘Biodiversity Intern Application’.

Applications for this position closed on Friday 10 July.
