Collecting and disposing of waste:

  • Purchase a bucket with lid for food scraps for use in your department to collect your waste
  • Its is VITAL that only approved material goes in the bucket to prevent contamination and cause a break down of the machine.
  • Fill your bucket with food scraps. Please refer to downloadable poster above for what can and can’t go in your bucket. (Print it off and put on or near your bucket).
  • PLEASE ensure there is NO CONTAMINATION (see below)
  • Take your bucket to the collection point. This is next to Union House. This can be done as many times as you like during the week.
  • At the collection point please empty your bucket directly into the designated ‘green lidded’ 120L bin (again ensuring no contamination). It will have appropriate ‘Green Impact’ signage.
  • Take your bucket back to your department, wash and refill.
  • Repeat!

Please note:

It is critical there is no contamination within your bucket (this mainly includes bones, large stones (such as avocado stones and corn cobs) packaging, disposable plates and crockery) this can break the food waste processor!

You MUST be a Green Impact team to use this system.
