- Melbourne Renewable Energy Project
In line with our Sustainability Plan and Charter, the University of Melbourne is supporting a City of Melbourne led project to develop a new 80 MW Wind Farm.
- Release of Sustainable Investments Framework
Approved by University Council in December 2017, the SIF outlines the University’s approach to sustainability, particularly climate change, in its investment portfolios and processes.

- University of Melbourne awarded Australia’s first 6 Star Green Star Communities rating for a university
The University of Melbourne’s Parkville campus has received a 6 Star Green Star – Communities rating from the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA), recognising world leadership in sustainable masterplanning.
- Melbourne Innovation Districts launched by City of Melbourne, RMIT and University of Melbourne
Planning considerations for the area will help innovation flourish and will include upgrades to streets, parks and other public spaces, while at the same time protecting the district’s suburban character. This will increase collaborative and engaging green spaces, encourage walking and cycling and incorporate greater use of sensors, apps and other networking technologies, such as Wi-Fi.
- Arts West building design wins award for excellence in educational facilities
Judges said that Arts West combined the best of contemporary museum learning with collaborative studio based learning, and achieves a Five Star Green Star rating, at the 10th Annual Learning Environments Australasia (LEA) Awards held in Singapore.
